About Wee Make Music

About Wee Make Music...

Children naturally respond to music with a sense of joy and wonder. Research shows the positive effect that music can have on the physical, emotional, and intellectual development of children.

Wellspring Arts' Wee Make Music classes benefit children by building listening skills, increasing coordination, developing early literacy skills, socialization skills, the ability to follow directions and sensitivity to the expressive qualities of music. But most of all, music enriches our lives and it is FUN!

Many of the activities we use are from the First Steps in Music Curriculum developed by Dr. John Feierabend, a national leader in early childhood music. The First Steps in Music curriculum, focuses on developing singing and movement skills, and is rich in traditional folk music. The design encourages students to become “tuneful, beatful, and artful” people.

Each 45 minute class is an engaging “musical workout.” Parents and children will participate in a wide variety of age appropriate musical activities, including: songs, rhymes, movement games, simple dances and playing simple instruments .

Parents/caregivers are expected to be active participants in all activities during the class so that they can further engage their child in these activities at home.
